Common Ground, LLC ("we", "us") operates CGConnect at connect.thecg.us and an Officials Dashboard at officials.thecg.us. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding it.

2. Information We Collect

When you submit a message through CGConnect, we collect:

  • Name and email address — to identify you to the official and allow them to reply
  • Home address — to verify you are a constituent of the official's district
  • Geographic coordinates — derived from your address for district verification
  • Message content — transmitted to the official on your behalf
  • IP address — collected temporarily for rate limiting and fraud prevention

We do not collect payment information or require account creation.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To transmit your message to the elected official
  • To verify that you reside within the official's district
  • To make your message and contact information available to the official and their authorized staff via the Officials Dashboard
  • To prevent abuse and enforce rate limits

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate our platform:

  • Mailjet — email delivery of your message to the official
  • Radar — address autocomplete and geocoding
  • MongoDB Atlas — district boundary verification
  • Amazon DynamoDB (AWS) — storage of messages and constituent records
  • Clerk — authentication for the Officials Dashboard
  • Upstash Redis — rate limiting
  • Vercel — hosting and infrastructure

Each of these services has their own privacy policy governing how they handle data.

5. Data Retention

Messages and constituent contact information submitted through CGConnect are stored securely in Amazon DynamoDB and made available to the relevant elected official and their authorized staff. This data is retained to allow officials to manage constituent communications over time. IP addresses used for rate limiting are stored temporarily and expire automatically.

You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at jack@thecg.us.
